A healer does not heal you.
A healer is someone who holds space for you while you awaken your inner healer,
so that you may heal yourself.

What is Reiki?
Reiki (pronounced ray-key) is a gentle Japanese healing technique that assists the body's natural ability to heal the mind, body and spirit.
It is based on the idea that all living things have a life force energy flowing through them. This energy can become blocked or out of balance due to stress, illness etc. Reiki helps return the natural state of balance and well-being to those receiving it. It is an ideal complement to conventional medical practices. It is not meant to replace traditional medical care.
What are
the benefits?
Although some miraculous healings have been documented, there are no guarantees that illnesses will disappear with Reiki treatments.
Most people experience a state of deep relaxation, and in that state, healing occurs. Reiki is most effective for relief of: minor ailments, headaches, anxiety, aches and pains, side effects from conventional medical treatments, healing after surgery, and release of emotional distress.
As stated above, it is an ideal complement to medical or mental healthcare and is not meant to be a replacement.
What does it
feel like?
Experiences vary from person to person, however typical sensations include: heat (most of my clients feel heat), tingling, cold, gentle vibrations or waves of energy, or nothing at all.

Some people fall asleep during a session, but almost everyone has, at minimum, a sense of comfortable relaxation.

Occasionally clients experience some form of release during the session which could be physical, emotional or spiritual. Usually clients leave with a sense of peace, calm and balance.
What happens in
a Reiki session?
A typical Reiki session involves some quick paperwork, pre-treatment consultation to discuss the purpose for your visit, the Reiki treatment, then a few moments for you to share your experience and address any additional questions you may have.
The treatment itself is done on a massage table, or in a chair if lying down is not an option. The client remains fully clothed and the practitioner will gently place her hands in a series of positions on or near the client's body. Though a gentle touch is soothing to most people, the treatment can be done without any physical contact if that is preferred.

About Dena
Prior to starting a Reiki business I was an Art Educator. One of the things I loved most about teaching was the opportunity to spend one-on-one time with students to guide them, or just listen. Those connections were very meaningful.
When I retired, I opened my Reiki business: Dena Hengst Healing Arts. My intention was to create a calm, comfortable space where clients can relax, receive a treatment, and give themselves a chance to heal their mind, body, and spirit. In addition to Reiki, I am still creating art and spending time with my wonderful family. I am truly living my best life.
